what do I need?
Since it's a destination wedding, you will need a passport and, depending on nationality, an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) or visitor visa. NOTE: you should renew your passport at least nine months before its expiration date to avoid processing delays/travel disruptions, as many countries require at least six months of validity before your travel.
When Do I Need to RSVP?
We will send out wedding invitations in the new year, but if you know you are definitely a YES, please let us know. Just notify Shannon or Joe!
What is the best way to RSVP?
When we send out the official invitations, you can respond via the wedding response card with your acceptance/decline and meal choice.
Where is the ceremony & reception?
Please see the Home tab on our wedding website.
Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?
The ceremony is outdoors and the reception is indoors.
What will the weather be like?
In late June, Canmore experiences pleasant, mild days and cool nights, with highs averaging around 65°F–68°F and lows dipping to 40°F–45°F. While days can be long and sunny, it can also be rainy, as it is historically one of the wetter periods, so be prepared for variable mountain weather! You should pack layers, including a jacket, a rainproof jacket, and warm clothes for mornings and evenings. Pack a water bottle (stay hydrated); clothes, footwear, and gear for any outdoor activities; sunscreen (UV exposure is stronger at higher elevations); and tick & bug spray as summer is tick and mosquito season in the Rocky Mountains!!!
What is the wedding attire?
Please wear cocktail attire. According to Google, this style is between formal and semi-formal, typically requiring a suit and tie for men and either a knee-length, midi, or formal mini dress for women. It is more elevated than daywear, but less restrictive than black-tie. Note for the ladies: wear wedges or block heels - the ceremony is outdoors on grass!
Is there a hotel room block?
Local accommodations do not offer hotel blocks. However, we do get exclusive accommodation discounts through our wedding planner. See the Travel tab on our wedding website for these options. If you do not like any of these options, please check AirBnB or other hotel booking sites. There are SO many places to stay and at different price points. Recommendation: Book ASAP. Summer is the busiest time of year!
Will transportation be provided?
Transportation will be provided to the ceremony site since it's a 25 minute drive from Canmore to Banff. Please meet the bus outside of Mainspace at 2:45 PM. The bus will leave at 3:00 PM sharp! If you miss the bus departure, you will need to get to the ceremony site at Tunnel Mountain Reservoir by rental car or taxi. Note: Uber and Lyft aren't available in this part of Canada. We'll then transport you back to Mainspace for dinner, drinks, and dancing at the reception!!!
What is the itinerary for the weekend?
Please see the Home tab on our wedding website.
Are pictures OK during the ceremony?
During the ceremony, we ask our guests to please put away your phones and cameras. We want you to "unplug" and be present for the ceremony.
What if I have dietary restrictions?
We're happy to accommodate your dietary restrictions/food allergies. We will ask for this information when we send out our wedding invitations.
Will there be a cash or open bar?
We’ll have an open bar—so come ready to raise a glass!
Is there a Wedding Registry?
Coming soon...
Are children allowed?
We love your kids, but our wedding is adults only. Kids are invited to the BBQ on Saturday afternoon though! The brewery needs a headcount, so please let Shannon or Joe know if you are bringing your kids to the BBQ.
What are the differences between Canmore and Banff?
The town of Canmore is 25 minutes east of Banff town. It sits just outside of Banff National Park. It's a more affordable, laid-back local experience with stunning mountain views and easier access to vacation rentals. It is noticeably quieter, less congested, and surrounded by peaks like the Three Sisters.
The town of Banff sits inside Banff National Park. It's directly in the center of the bustling tourist action. Banff feels much more lively. It's pedestrian-friendly, very walkable, and features upscale shopping, nightlife, and dining. You are also close to the iconic sites!
Are Park Passes Required?
Through the Canada Strong Pass initiative, admission to Banff National Park is free summer 2026. We don't know yet if the same initiative will apply to summer of 2027. Joe and I will keep an eye on it, and update our wedding website as soon as we know more for 2027. Stay tuned!
